Finding a Therapist

As with any other area of healthcare, you will want to make sure that the therapist you choose is the right one!    There is no law in the UK to control people wanting to call themselves a hypnotherapist or psychotherapist, and the training can vary from a short correspondence course to that which is some of the best, most exacting and most comprehensive.   Consequently - you need to be careful!

For your own peace of mind, use a therapist who is properly trained and who must adhere to a Code of Ethics. Therapists should also be required by their professional organisations to undergo constant clinical supervision and ongoing post qualification training.

If you use a therapist who is a member of the organisations listed below, you are off to a good start. Membership of these carries with it the obligations of training and ethics we mentioned above.   I am NOT saying that members of other registers/associations are not competent or safe to use - I merely emphasise the standing of the organisations listed!!
